Schema Markup

Code added to a page, usually in JSON-LD with schema.org vocabulary, that tells engines exactly what kind of content it is, such as a product, article, FAQ or organization.

Definition

Code added to a page, usually in JSON-LD with schema.org vocabulary, that tells engines exactly what kind of content it is, such as a product, article, FAQ or organization.

Why it matters

It removes ambiguity about what a page is and what it contains, and helps engines understand the relationships between its elements.

What to do

  • Choose the right type for your content: Organization, Article, FAQPage or Product.
  • Validate the code with testing tools before publishing, and do not add data that does not appear on the page.
