01 · The challenge

AI engines were putting Forlanso in the wrong category

Forlanso is a platform founded in Dubai in 2021 that manages remote work end to end: digital contracts, payroll, payments and payouts in 150 countries. Yet AI assistants often grouped it with freelance marketplaces such as Upwork, Fiverr or Khamsat.

As buyers ask AI tools for recommendations instead of searching Google, that mistake meant Forlanso was compared against the wrong competitors and left out of the right questions.

How AI saw it

Freelance marketplace

A middleman connecting clients with freelancers, comparable to Upwork.

03 · What I did

Four moves that changed the answer

01

Entity & category clarity

Defined one consistent brand entity, “Remote Workforce Management System”, and reinforced it across owned and third-party sources.

02

Quote-ready content

Answer-first, fact-dense content LLMs can lift directly, built around 0% commission, payouts in 150 countries and compliant contracts.

03

Prompt & query mapping

Targeted the Arabic and English questions buyers ask AI about remote teams, global payroll and hiring in emerging markets.

04

Differentiation framing

An explicit “not a freelance marketplace” contrast, so AI engines learn the distinction and repeat it.

04 · Before vs. after

“An integrated Emirati platform for remote work management… not a traditional mediation site like Khamsat or Upwork”, a “virtual office” with 0% commission.

Claude

Partial

Remote work management, but no clear business model.

Aligned

Uses forlanso.com/ar/about as the lead source, explains 0% commission plus the subscription model, and cites 10 sources.

05 · Results

From “another freelance site” to a defined category

4/4major AI engines now classify Forlanso as remote work management, not a freelance marketplace
FlippedGemini moved from “like Upwork” to “not a mediation site like Upwork”
Ownedforlanso.com is the primary cited source across ChatGPT and Perplexity
Gemini · after
“What sets Forlanso apart is that it is not a traditional mediation site (like Mostaql, Khamsat or Upwork) for finding jobs, but your own virtual office.”
Claude · after
“Forlanso is a comprehensive Remote Workforce Management System.”
ChatGPT · after, under pushback
“Its main role is not finding projects or new clients… it is more useful as a platform for managing contracts and payments.”

Category ownership

Every major engine now separates Forlanso from Upwork, Mostaql and Khamsat instead of grouping it with them.

Differentiators carried through

0% commission, the subscription model, payouts in 150 countries and legal contracts now appear in AI answers.

Owned-source citations

AI engines pull from forlanso.com, including the Arabic About page, and LinkedIn, so the brand controls the narrative.

Better follow-up prompts

Perplexity now suggests buyer-intent follow-ups such as “How do Forlanso subscriptions work instead of commissions?”

06 · Next phase

Where we go from here

  • Win comparison prompts such as “Forlanso vs Upwork” and “best remote payroll platform in the Arab world”.
  • Extend the same entity clarity to English-language AI queries and Google AI Overviews.
  • Track citation share and positioning accuracy across engines every month.
Key takeaway

In AI search, being found is not enough. You have to be understood. Clear entity definition plus quote-ready content changed the category AI assistants use to describe Forlanso.
